How to transfer metadata

I am trying to transfer series from a workfile to a database. Doing this, I am using the merge option which allows me to merge data from the series in my workfile with the series in the database (they have the same name). However the series does not have the same metadata (e.g. source, units and remarks) and I struggle to find a way to keep the existing metadata for the series in the database when I merge them with the series from the workfile. The workfile metadatas overwrite the existing database metadatas.

Is there any easy way to keep the metadata for the series I already have in the database while I am transfering these series?
