EViews doesn't support panel estimation features for 3D panels. Only for 2D panels. 99% of panel econometric theory only deals with 2D panels. For some reason, I can't open this as a panel, only as unstructured/undated. What am I doing wrong? Please see the attached file. After i do the whole Hit Proc->Structure/Resize Current Page Change the Workfile structure to "Dated Panel" Enter Country as Cross section ID Enter Year as Date...

That's when i get the illegal panel structure error: Year nested with whatever I put as cross-section id (1:4186)

I'm looking at FDI inflows from 16 source countries into 14 host countries from 1990-2012 - which makes it a panel? to be honest i havent worked with panel data so far, so i'm not quite sure.

I don't have that, i was looking at cross-sections between different host and source countries. I uploaded the file here for you to take a look if you can. How should I add that so I get past the pesky error at the beginning about unique source id ? later edit: I managed to open the data in eviews b...

I've tried to open this but I keep failing. I need to run a gravity model and you directed a past user to here, I've gone through all pages in this thread but I still can't get it right. I'm using Eviews7 by the way.
