Hi all,

i currently have Eviews 7.2

i have written a programme importing data from excel. however, it has suddenly stopped working a few days ago. when i ran the programme i would get a message box saying "Window is now checking for a solution to the problem" then the Eviews would crashed.

can anyone advise me what to do ?

It is probably related to the specific Excel file you're trying to import. Could you post it here?

thanks for your prompt reply. i forgot to add when i tried to run the same programme using another computer, the programme would run smoothly. i also tried to un-install then install EViews but the import function still is not working...

Did you update EViews 7 to the latest version?

yes i have updated to the latest version of Eviews 7.2

I can't replicate the crash. Are you certain importing the data from Excel is the problem? Could be it be another operation from your program?

If you select file->import->import from file, does EViews crash? If so, when did it crash (immediately, after pressing next, after pressing finish)?

You have mutiple pages in your excel file. What data range are you trying to import (page and cell range)?

i tried to import the data manually. the import process crushed as soon as i pressed enter. i cannot import any data from excel so i don't think it is the file.

i think there is a bug that only affected my computer. i tried to re-installed the programme but to no avail.

can you offer some guidance on how to resolve this issue please?

You mentioned you couldn't import xlsx files. Can you also not import xls files?

What operating system are you using?

You didnt mention if there were any additional options. Can you post the full command line? Or did you simply use 'import filename.xlsx'?
