Constituent lists

Postby tranvag » Tue Apr 01, 2014 1:45 am

Hi,

First of all, thank you for a great service. This forum has aided my efforts many times.

I have a question related to Datastream integration. I have used EViews and datastream together for years, making the most of EViews' superior data handling. Up until now, the mnemonics, or other identifiers, have been known to me. Hence, fetching series is as easy a can be, and programming allows for endless possibilities.

However, I now need access to series identifiers specified by index providers. I need access to "constituent lists" from Datastream in EViews. Is this possible without going through Excel? Constituent lists can be either static point-in-time lists, providing market values or ISIN numbers for series that make up an index at a specified date, or time-series of the same examples, though only considering the current series in an index. Ideally, fetching lists (static objects) of ISIN numbers as string lists (or svectors or some other defined object) is what I really want.

If such data handling is not possible, will it be in later updates?

Best,
Hans

Unfortunately due to the complexity of fetching constituent lists, the feature was not added.

If we received enough interests in the future, we would reconsider but there are currently no plans to add the ability for future releases.

Hi

I fully support this suggestion!

Would simplify things a lot.
