symbol size in error bar graph

It looks to me that if you adjust the symbol size in an error bar graph something weird happens with the symbol.
Here's a snapshot of the default graph.
Now here's a snapshot changing the symbol size to 4X
Returning the symbol size to medium seems to not fix the problem.
