X11 & 64-bit Compatibility

Our work just upgraded to EViews8 from Eviews5.

We have workfiles with the census X11 seasonal transformation being called, with no issues until today. After upgrading the following message occurs:
"X11, as provided by the U.S. Census, is not supported on 64-bit operating systems. Please use X12 instead in......"

I don't see any mention online or this forum regarding 64-bit and X11. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

There is nothing to add. X11 was written 45 years ago. It is not 64bit compatible.

I don't understand how X11 was 64-bit compatible before, but not now. The CPU hasn't changed, only the version of EViews.

Thanks for the quick reply.

I assume you upgraded the version of Windows too. It has nothing to do with the version of EViews. It is all about the version of Windows. X-11 won't run on 64bit Windows.

Thanks EViews Gareth.......
Do you see any potential issues with running the 32-bit version of EViews with 64-bit Win7?

No, other than the fact that X-11 won't work.

Now a related question - can .x12 function be saved to an existing series that doesn't have an EViews specified extension?

I can run kunrtu.x12 but don't know how to save adjustments without EViews adding _sa to a new series

E.G.: previously the code we used for seasonal adjustments: x11(m) kunrtu kunrt -> this performed a seasonal adjusted on kunrtu with results saved in the series kunrt. Using kunrt as the "base name" still adds the _sa extension onto the series.

Now, I need to save seasonal adjustment for kunrtu.x12 as kunrt. I can't rename kunrtu_sa as kunrt because it already exists

Also, there are numerous series that this applies to, so using wildcards (*_sa) would be best if at all possible. Each variable being seasonally adjusted has 'u' as its last letter, so a wildcard such as *u_sa should catch all of the adjustment.

Can you simply delete kunrt, then rename?

There are a couple of issue I see with deleting each:
1) there are a decent amount of series that would need to be deleted
2) deleting would have to be done each time the program is run - even if it was written into the program, it seems a bit superfluous

Alternatively, simply using the _sa would result in just as much work as other programs & models call on these series.

I'm not sure there's a better way than deleting.
