I am forecasting the time series G in gnp_hamilton.wf1 example for Markov switching AR by following the procedures mention in Eviews manual (pg 407). However, when i set the forecast sample between 1970q1 1984q4. Eviews crash completely. I tried many times including the other Markov switching examples and I am having the same problem. Why is this happening?

Eviews has been crashing a lot since yesterday afternoon. My machine is registered and I have run an update patch this morning. Still not helping. Still getting the "Eviews has stopped working" error message before it all dies away. What gives? Thanks!

Could you provide more details? What version are you running? What is the build date? (Help->About EViews). What are you doing when EViews crashes?

Am running Eviews 8 with build date Nov 19 2013. Crashes mostly when doing model solve. Model has three little equations.

A specific model in a specific workfile, or all models in a specific workfile, or all models in all workfiles?

I was only working in one workfile.

Usually what happens is, it would do one or two solves OK. Thereafter, it protests and dies when I try to do another solve over a different time period.

I bet Gareth's life would be better if you could post the workfile, and perhaps a set of commands that make it crash.

I opened up each of the two models and clicked "solve".
