Cross Sectional Data Modeling

Hi,
I am trying to do a cross sectional analysis of invoice processing for 3 countries. I have x types of invoices for each country. My end objective is to find out which of the factors (independent variables) influence 80% of productivity (no. of invoices processed per person) in each country and then do a comparison between countries. The factors (independent variables) would be technology, people and invoice factors. So obviously there would be some categorical variables involved (e.g. technology type).
Can you please suggest what are the methodologies I can use? Also, if I do a data collection exercise how big a sample size should I look at?
Thanks a lot,
Sreeja
