Eviews 8 administrative installation question

I work in a IT department and I have to perform Eview 8 administrative installation on an end user PC client, but the install wizard program wants mandatory serial number.
Is there a way to postpone serial number input after installation procedure ? It would be good if it was end user to complete registration later.

Unfortunately not. The serial number is required to configure your computer appropriately.

In getting started guides Eviews 8 is explained that it is chance to register your copy within 30 days, so why you must enter the serial number during installation ? All most popular software have this feature.

Many of the options shown during installation depend upon your serial number. We need the serial number to determine which options to show. Registration does not occur during installation.

This is bad luck, in large corporate environments the ultimate goal of an IT department for deploy the software is to automate processes and avoid manual actions for each installation.

In the case of serial numbers which use a license manager (concurrent licenses or unlimited lab licenses), it does not matter. The license used by EViews will ultimately be determined by the license manager. What is important in the concurrent use and unlimited lab case is the license group.

In the seat license case, we are looking into modifying the installer such that serial number will still be required and used to configure EViews (same as before) but when EViews is started the end user is prompted for his/her official serial number. For the time being what you could do is use your demo serial number during installation. Right now when user starts their copy of EViews for the first time, he/she is prompted register their copy of EViews. The prefilled serial number in the registration dialog is the serial number used during installation. They have to option to change the listed serial number. It is here that they should enter the correct serial number. If they do not enter the correct serial number and proceed with the prefilled demo license, assuming the demo serial number installations have been exhausted, the user will receive an error message indicating all installations have been exhausted.

We have modified the latest installer(June 13th) such that if you are in the process of recording your silent .iss script, you have the option to force the end user to enter a new serial number when registering their copy of EViews.

You must still use a serial for installation for the same reasons mentioned above. Normally when EViews is started for the first time, that serial number is listed as the default serial number in the registration dialog. By unchecking the 'Remember serial number for registration' option, the serial number field in the registration dialog will now be empty forcing the end user to enter his/her serial number.
