Could you define what you mean by a floating license?

I believe what Philip is trying to say is, can a user check out a floating licence to use away from the usual place of work.
Philip. If you are using a licence manager, you are already using floating licences

Actually there are two types of licenses when using our License Manager:

A concurrent license requires a constant connection to the license manager while you are using EViews. So if you took your laptop home, you'd need to access to the license server at work, probably via a VPN. Once you're on the network, you'll be able to run EViews.

A lab license allows you to "check out" a license from the license server and hold it for up to 30 days. Originally designed for use by universities with computer labs, while you have a checked out license, you can run EViews without any network access. The only lab license that is available for purchase by companies (as opposed to universities) is our "unlimited lab license" which, I'm afraid, is quite a bit more expensive than a regular concurrent license.

No, we haven't looked at LM-X License Manager. We did look at FlexNet originally, but decided against it due to our specific requirements.
