Eviews crashes when opening MS Access

Hello - whenever I try to open an MS Access database (.mdb or .accdb) Eviews crashes - no hesitation, immediate shutdown. Eviews version is 7.2.
I seem to be able to push data between SQL server and Excel so I think the ODBC connection should be ok.
Any thoughts or suggestions? Thank you.

Please send me an email (to
steve@eviews.com) with the following:
1. Current build date of your EViews 7.2. Go to our About screen to see the build date.
2. If your Access database is small enough, please send it to me as a zip file attachment.
3. Detail the exact steps you take to get EViews to crash. Which menu items, which commands, etc.

When EViews starts up, it tries to allocate as much memory address space as possible just in case you want to open very large workfiles. This sometimes conflicts with other Windows programs (such as ODBC) that might need the memory as well. I believe this is the reason you are having this trouble.
To resolve this, please do the following:
1. Run EViews 7
2. Goto Options menu ->General Options
3. In the left tree, click the last item named “Advanced system options”
4. On the right side, change the “Memory reserved for Windows, DLL files…” dropdown from 400 (default) to 800 or 1000.
5. Click OK to save the changes.
6. Quit then restart EViews.
