Matlab or EViews

Postby Eva_87 » Sun Oct 21, 2012 4:10 am

Which one would you recommend to study in depth? I am a finance student, so MATLAB or EViews? And why?

I'd say both. EViews can do a lot of sophisticated things without a lot of programming.

Matlab has some very good finance functions. The symbolic math toolbox is also very useful.

The two environments complement one another very well. As a finance person, I wouldn't substitute one for the other. I'd say that, if you had to pick two environments, those are the two I find most useful.
