How do I import data from Eviews to Excel

Hi,

is it possible to open eviews file from excel. My colleagues do not need eviews but they need the data I estimated from Eviews. Is it possible to open Eviews files with Excel, without Eviews installed?

Unfortunately Microsoft has not (yet?) given Excel the capability to read EViews files. However from within EViews you can save your data in Excel format (just choose File->Save As and then change the file type to Excel).

i tried using this. I installed and opened up excel. When I try to open a wf1 it still has weird characters.

I also installed and activated the add-in but it doesn't work

@ Nihilit: do you know how I can use the add-in to convert my wf1 file to xls?

or can anyone convert a wf1 file I created to xls for me? I need it desperately to finish my thesis which I have to submit before Christmas! Thanks

As Gareth pointed out, it's easy to save your workfile in Excel format from within EViews.

The format for the EViews workfile is (a) pretty complicated and (b) proprietary.
It is unlikely that any Excel add-in is going to convert anything other than a very simple workfile. For some uses, that may be good enough, but most people will be far better off exporting from EViews rather than importing to Excel.
