Eviews7 become non-responsive after couple minutes

hi, my eviews7 seems to be having a weird problem. every time after i launch it, and use it for a couple minutes (max. 5 minutes), for some reason it will become non-responsive to any functions. whatever i click (wether it's the tools bar on the top or tools in the workfile), it will do nothing. i can't even close it unless i manually open the task manager.
can someone please tell me how to fix this? thanks.

Is your version of EViews 7 uptodate?

not sure, because it was my friend who installed it for me. how do i check?
EDIT: nvm, i found the update thing in help and updating it now. i guess i will wait and see if it still happens after update.

Just in case, Help/About has the version, build date, and serial number.
