Hi,
I am right now using a add-in in Excel to get data directly from Eviews and avoid importing data from Eviews multiple times.
This add-in was available to me along with the installation of Eviews itself.
But whenever I am using that add-in to import as links bulky data. Data contains 24 tabs, each having around 80 variables, the add-in shows the error "Catastrophic Failure".
Also I tried deleting some tabs of the Eviews file and I found that now the add-in is working.
Can anyone please tell me whether Excel Eviews Add-in has a upper limit for the data it can import and if yes what is the upper limit?
Thanks and Regards,
Anil Anto

Re: Excel crashing using the Eviews Add-in
The add-in uses a separate oledb driver to get to the data in the workfile. It doesn't need EViews to be running. If you are trying to read a large workfile, I would suggest you not be running EViews as that program can take up a lot of memory while running, reducing it for your other programs.
Now when you say 24 tabs, do you mean a workfile with 24 pages? Each with 80 objects? Do you get the error when you try to read a single object from anywhere or are you trying to read all 80 objects from a single page?
If you can provide a sample workfile that can reproduce the error, I can look into it for you. Please send the workfile to steve@eviews.com with a link referencing this forum post.
Thanks,
Steve
