Hello all,
In Eviews 7 I have the following problem. I import Excel data via the "Foreign data as workfile" method. When doing so I encounter the problem of not seeing the values. Instead I get only NA's everywhere. Strangely enough I can make graphs and run regressions even though the values are not visible to me (so Eviews has clearly imported them from Excel properly, but it somehow fails to show them to me).

I have tried changing the Excel workbook version (97-2003) and I've also tried to change the decimal values (commas and thousand seperators etc.), all to no avail.
I should also note that when trying to manually insert values in the cells, it does not work (I know that I have to press edit first).

Perhaps someone knows how this problem can be solved? Thanks in advance

You should ensure that your copy of EViews is completely up to date by downloading the latest patch. http://eviews.com/download/download.html

This behaviour shouldn't occur with a copy of EViews that has been properly installed.

Please try reinstalling EViews from the original CD. If the problem isn't resolved, please email our office (support@eviews.com) with your EViews serial number and we'll try to work out what is going on.

Thank you, I see now that my problem is solved. I installed Eviews again and it works now. The only other problem I had was that I got a smpl range error. But I found out why I got that. If you double click on range in the top corner of the workfile, you can change the workfile structure type. In my case I changed it from dated-regular frequency to unstructured/undated.

Instead of opening a new post I want to ask another question (if possible). I ran a progam file with several loops in it and altough it was pretty fast in generating the results I needed, I wonder whether I can get the results even faster with a better RAM. I currently have 2GB of Random access memory. I have room to upgrade it upto 4GB. Would it have an impact on the speed with which I would get results in Eviews (and other programs), or not. Thanks in advance

There's no way to answer that.

When EViews is running, open the task manager and see how much physical memory is being used. Unless you're using almost all physical memory adding more is very unlikely to make any difference. And unless you are using very large data sets, EViews generally doesn't use much memory.

Having said that, going from 2GB to 4Gb is usually the most cost effective thing you can do to speed up overall performance.
