model.control error in version 7.2

Hi,
I'm currently using EViews 7.2 (update Sept 7 2011 ), but would like implement code written in EViews 6.
In EViews 6 the following code works perfectly:

smpl 2011.3 2012.4 model3.control gdp_a gdp vgdp smpl 2011.3 2018.4 model3.solve

However, in EViews 7.2. I got an error message "unable to compute due to missing data" and NA-values for gdp_a (which were set correctly to zero in advance). I thought that this is a bug in the new version. Or do you have any ideas?
