How to import stacked data?

Hi,
I have an excel data sheet that has series that sit on top of each other. The sheet looks like what's shown below.
Name seriesa seriesb
1970 100 200
1980 200 300
... ... ...
1999 500 600
Name seriesc seriesd
1970 200 300
1971 100 200
... ... ...
1999 500 600
The problem is that eviews will not recognize the first columne as date index and also, seriesc is a string that will not
be identified as an observation either.
Is there a way I can let eview read this datasheet? The fact is that it would be very difficult for me to cut and past the second half of the data sheet to a new sheet and then open it, for the fact that I have a thousand sheets like this.
Thanks in advance for your help.
