Copy Match Merge

Postby jjussa » Wed Apr 20, 2011 3:53 pm

I have 2 pages in a workfile. Each page is structured by a security identiifer and date. Page one is structrued by a daily date and security identifier (call it dailyPage). Page two is structured by a monthly date and security identifier (call it monthlyPage). I simply want to copy some pricing data (call it Price) from the dailyPage to the monthlyPage. Basically I want to only copy monthend pricing from the dailyPage to the monthlyPage. This is essentially a copy from High Frequency to Low Frequency. This is what I have tried :

1. pageselect MonthlyPage; copy(merge) DailyPage\Price Price @src securityID date @dest securityID date -> this works BUT its VERY slow
2. pageselect MonthlyPage; copy(merge,c=l) DailyPage\Price Price -> this works but it replaces a mismatch with the last nonmissing observations -> HOWEVER, what i want is to replace mismatches with merely NAs. How do i do that????

Would it be possible to post (or email us support@eviews.com) the workfile? The first copy should not be slow.

No, that's a little large. However you might be able to save it with compression on (if it doesn't ask you when you save the file, click on Options->General Options->Data Storage), and then zip the workfile up in Windows. They can get a lot smaller.

I tried to upload the zipped workfile (~8MB) but I get this error...

The proxy could not connect to the given URL, this may be due to a problem with the destination webserver.

Try emailing it to support@eviews.com. Our email servers should accept an 8mb file.

With regards to your second line of code, rather than using "date" as the date ID, try using "@date" as the date ID.
