Hi,
I am using EViews Enterprise Editon 7.1 Mar 7 2011 build on my desktop running Win XP SP3
What I am trying to do is to import exchange rates into an object in a workfile
I choose Edit / Import / Import from file /
In the 'Open' window I choose 'ODBC' als Files of type and select a datasource for my MS SQL server DB
Everything is working well when I just select a view or a table from the database.
Then I will get a window 'ODBC Data Source Clipboard Read' filling out everything and the import will create a new object showing all the data I need.
But when I try to select the data within EViews I will always run into this issue:
- I choose to 'Enter table description or query' and 'Build Query' in the 'Select table' window
- MS Query starts and asks to select a table / view and some columns
- I choose a table/view an some columns
- Everything works fine until I choose 'Return to EViews'
- After choosing this EView crashes showing the following problem signature in a window message box
-- Windows XP (NT 5.1 Build 2600)
-- AppName: eviews7.exe
-- AppVer: 7.0.0.1
-- ModName: eviews7.exe
-- ModVer: 7.0.0.1
-- Offset: 00014fc7
I have tried to do this on another computer and ended up with the same result.
Any idea?
Thanks
Alf

Re: ODBC data import in 7.1
Good find. We've fixed this bug and it will be released in the next patch. You can also download the new ev_dset.dll that contains this fix here:
http://eviewsupdates.s3.amazonaws.com/ev_dset.zip
(Remember, it always a good idea to keep a backup of any files that are updated in case you need to revert back).
