Problem with frequency conversion

I am a new EViews user. I am using monthly data, and created a new Workfile with a quarterly frequency. I have copied the monthly series, and then used "paste special" to paste in the quarterly workfile. However, the data always tries to rewrite in monthly. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong here. Any help would be appreciated.

What does "rewrite in monthly" mean?
Perhaps you could include some screenshots of what you're doing?

When I copy in the workfile with monthly frequency, and paste special in the workfile with quarterly frequency, it tries to paste in the monthly workfile. I get the attached message.

It sounds like you're pasting in the wrong place.
