Dear Eviews

What is the principal difference between two Excel add-ins we have Eviews12 folder: (i) Excel2010Addin and (ii) EViews Add In.xla?
I suspect they are not identical.
Are there any functional differences? Which one is preferable?

"EViews Add In.xla" is an older version of the add-in that is usable by versions of Office that is older than 2010 (e.g. Excel 95). Excel2010AddIn is for Office 2010 and newer. Both have similar functionality. During installation, EViews tries to detect which version of Office you have and registers the appropriate add-in.

Does it mean that "EViews Add In.xla" will not be supported in the future?

Somehow I found this Add-in more easy-to-use ...

Correct. We probably won't include it in the next release of EViews at all.

Older XLA add-ins can still be used by newer editions of Office, but you may have to install a few older Microsoft libraries in order to get it to work. It's simpler in terms of registering it with Excel in order to get it to show up, but functionality-wise, it is identical to the newer one.

Steve, I have a couple of suggestions for Excel Add-in. Shall I write here? or switch to the forum of "Suggestions" ?
