Truncating data: discarding the 1st and 99th percentiles

Postby hugstime » Tue Mar 23, 2010 7:28 am

Hello eviews forum!

I've got a little problem and was wondering if you could help me;
I want to trim a data series which is 'messy'. I want to discard the 0-1st percentile and 99-100th percentile of the data or so which are improbable values based on what is likely faulty data.
How do I go about doing this?

Is there code involved or can I do this by generate by equation or classification?

Thanks
