Histogram - problem setting bin width

Hi,

I am using EViews 9. I have a problem when using the histogram for a series (View > Descriptive Statistics and Tests > Histogram and Stats)

I cannot change the bins. My dataset is years of construction, and I get a histogram with 5 year intervals.

I have tried everything in the menus. I have also tried the following code: year_cons.hist(binw=user; binval=10)

Nothing changes. Intervals are still 5 year intervals.

Any help on what I am doing wrong?

You cannot change the histogram under View > Descriptive Statistics and Tests > Histogram and Stats. If you want to create a customized histogram, you'll have to use View->Graph, then choose Distribution as the graph type and customize the histogram options.
