Fetching Datastream Data Denoted in Various Currencies

Hi,
We just changed over from fetching data trhough Datastream's Zappy server to their Dataworks server and noticed that some fetching functions no longer work. In particular I used to be able to fetch U.S. exports for instance (USEXPGDSB) in euros by typing: fetch(d=datastream) USEXPGDSB~EUR. Since switching to the Dataworks server I am getting the following error (screen shot attached). Is there a different syntax to fetch in different currencies?
On a side note, Datastream tells me they are unwilling to help me with this problem.

That is a syntax question for Thomson.
EViews basically passes the mnemonic and any modifiers (in this case USEXPGDSB~EUR) directly to their servers.
To prove it is not an EViews problem, go to
http://europe.dataworks.thomson.com/dat ... fault.aspx. Next enter your username and password, set Source to datastream, then set Instrument to USEXPGDSB~EUR (make sure this is in all caps) and press start, you will get the same "Invalid request code, Failure=5" error.
On the other hand, if you change USEXPGDSB~EUR to USEXPGDSB, you get data. They will have to tell you the proper syntax.

Do you guys have someone I can talk to at Thomson? I just got the following e-mail from DS regarding this...
Erik,
I’m afraid I’ve hit a dead end here. I spoke with our Datastream product guys, and they said that unfortunately, we don’t support EViews functionality. We use to be able to offer some assistance when we had a guy who knew the applications but he retired we aren’t able to assist much I’m afraid. We maintain the technological link between the applications, but not how to use Eviews. I’m not sure why these refused to help you.
Below is a Screenshot I found of Eviews from one of our market pieces. It looks a little different from your screenshot. I’m also attached the Eview Demo from our Extranet page. Maybe it will help you, but I wasn’t able to get any useful help from it.

I've sent an email to our contact. I will post back as soon as I hear back from him.
I personally would contact Thomson again but ask them how using their website (
http://europe.dataworks.thomson.com/dat ... fault.aspx) do you fetch USEXPGDSB in euros.

We are corresponding with the Datastream folks. This is more than likely going to require a patch. I will keep you posted

Hey Jason. I noticed this has been fixed in the latest patch for eviews 9. Fetching using a double tilde now works. Are you guys planning on patching eviews 8 with the same thing?
