Random Crashing

Since the most recent patch several of us in the office have noticed eviews 9 crashing a lot more than usual. I can't pinpoint specifics, and they don't always happen in the same place, but the crash rate has definitely increased substantially.

We are using the enterprise edition, October 13 build.

Hi

We also had a lot more numbers of (unexplained) crashes when we use the October 13 build. It is mainly a little larger programs, which includes many sub-programs, that crashes.

We have downgraded to 6 October build (where everything works fine) while we are waiting for new version.

Regards Johan

Thanks, we are investigating.

Are you using 32bit or 64bit?

We released a patch today that fixed a number of issues with graphs. Please let us know if it helps in your cases.

Hi, it helped

We have tested various of systems with version October 13 build and it seems that most of the system works.

For some programs Eviews crashes after it is completely finished (ie, it does everything it's supposed to and then crashes). This is however nothing new, we have had this kind of problem for a few program/system since last spring (and it's ok for us)

Regards Johan

I recently purchased EVIEWS v9. I am using 32-bit system and every time I run AR-GARCH the software crashes. I have clicked "check for online solution" option but the problem still persists. Thanks

There should be a patch going out later today to fix this one.

For the moment, you may estimate your ARCH equation using the EViews legacy optimization method. To select this method when you perform your estimation, click on the Estimate dialog to and select ARCH in the combo to show the ARCH dialog. Click on the Options tab, and choose “EViews Legacy” in the Optimization Method drop-down menu at the top left of the options page. Our apologies for the inconvenience.
