Hi,
Please could you help me with a problem Reading foreign data as a workfile … ?
I am using the Eviews 9 Student Version, build date August 28 2015 (I downloaded it on 7 September 2015).
I have a simple tab-delimited text file of data, attached. I have no problems reading the data into Eviews 7 or Eviews 8.
When I read the data with EV9 I get to the Text Read Step 1 of 4 dialogue box, but if I click Finish, or if I click through Next until I get to Step 3 of 4, EV9 crashes.
I see there is a patch for the EV9 Student Version, but the patch is dated 24 August 2015 – my build date is after that. Will that update help with this reading text file problem? Or is this a different bug?

Hi again,
Further to my own post, if I open a pre-existing workfile (created in EV7) and then Open a tab-delimited text file, it works. But if there is no workfile open, Opening a tab-delimited text file causes EV9 to stop working.

Update your copy of EViews. Select help->Eviews update to download the latest.

Our update pagehttp://www.eviews.com/download/download.html list fixes for the commercial versions of EViews. There isn't an update page for the student version. We will try to keep the student and commercial versions in sync but cannot be guaranteed. In this case the student patch is newer.
