I would find it useful if EViews would automatically commit changes when prgs are executed following edits through the IDE. I think there's probably an argument as to why it hasnt been done however.... just cant think of what it might be.

That was a deliberate design decision once-upon-a-time (following considerable debate). I agree that it's worth revisiting the discussion, though we are always wary of changing behavior on people unless the reasons are compelling.

Reason: People might neglect the fact that EViews isnt committing changes (like I do) because other languages which they might program in do commit changes.
Argument 1.) This leads to poor version control in general.
Argument 2.) When you bluescreen, or client crash from generally undiagnosed bugs, you dont want to lose any recent edits you've made.
Suggestion: Make it a tickbox option on program execution? (set as default)
