Hi, I am having constant crashes when importing data from Excel 2013 into Eviews9. After selecting the excel file, it opens the data and when clicking next in the first screen it crashes and closes. Could somebody help please ?

What is the build date of your copy of EV9? (Help->About EViews)

How are you opening the excel file within EViews? Are you dragging and dropping the file or are you using file->open->foreign data as workfile?

Are you using the 32 or 64 bit version of EViews? (type supportinfo and enter into the EViews command window)

Do you have Excel open during this process? If yes, try shutting down Excel and then try importing the Excel file. Does the crash go away?

How are you opening the excel file within EViews? Are you dragging and dropping the file or are you using file->open->foreign data as workfile? - OPEN FOREIGN DATA AS WORKFILE

Are you using the 32 or 64 bit version of EViews? (type supportinfo and enter into the EViews command window) - 64BIT

Do you have Excel open during this process? If yes, try shutting down Excel and then try importing the Excel file. Does the crash go away?, - TRIED WITH IT OPEN AND CLOSED, BOTH CRASHES

Are you having problems opening xls or xlsx or both files?

You said previously, all Excel files are causing the crash? Can you try with a small file (less than 2 MBS)? Did that crash?

From EViews, select options->general options. In the left pane, select file locations. Click the folder button next the Temp File Path box. Does that path exist? What is that path? Roughly how many files are in that directory? Remove all files in that directory and try again.
