optimal hardware for EViews?

Is there are clear ranking of processor/memory characteristics that lead to better EViews performance? If I am buying a new workstation and have to choose between one or two processors, core numbers, cache/clock speed, and memory size, is there a clear direction to go in to maximize performance? Thank you.

Depends on what stuff you do in EViews. For most time series applications a faster cpu with fewer cores will perform better than a slower cpu with more cores.
For 99.99% users, 4-8GB of RAM is more than enough for EViews, depending what other stuff you're running on your machine at the same time as EViews.

Thank you Gareth. The stuff I do that typically takes time is iterative estimation and screening of of relatively simple models (generally OLS and robust regression models). It's all stuff I've programmed. Would your answer change in response to that? And can I ask whether you think a dual CPU setup makes any difference as opposed to a multiple core single CPU?

I'd go for the fastest low core cpu you can.
