Writing table to a XLS file

Hi,
I am working in a program which loops trough some OLS equations, then freeze the results into a table and write it to disk as a CSV file.
However, I would like to write it on disk as XLS (in order to use some excel features in a native format). Does anyone know if is that possible? So far as I know, eviews allows to write to disk only as CSV, HTML and RTF formats using SAVE command.
I found on the command reference the WRITE command. However, I think, it is not applicable to a table object. I tested it and it did not worked for me...
Bests,
Bob
