Add variable - data consists of multiple years

Hi,
I have a variable which measures the number of days between two specific dates. I would like to know how I can add this variable in EViews. The two specific dates are not incorporated in my dataset, so there is no possibility to calculate the number of days between these two dates in Eviews itself.
I tried to manually enter the data into the system. However, if I generate a new variable in Eviews I get a list with SEDOL-codes that is incomplete in comparison with the initial sample/list with SEDOL-codes. Do you have any idea how this is possible?
Finally, I have a more technical question regarding the number of days variable I want to add to my dataset:
My dataset consists of acquisitions in the UK between 2009 and 2011. Normally, a company acquirers another company in one of those years, in the remaining years there is no acquisition for that specific company. However, there are companies in my dataset that undertake two acquisitions in two different years. For example, company X acquirers company Y in 2009 and the number of days that has to be assigned to this acquisition is 10. In addition, company X also acquirers company Z in 2010 and the number of days that has to be assigned to this acquisition is 20. In 2011 company X does not undertake an acquisition. The interesting thing is that in this case the two acquisitions have the same SEDOL-code, because both acquisitions have the same acquirer. How do I know that EViews 'recognizes' these two acquisitions as two different acquisitions and that it assigns the right number of days to the right acquisition? I heard that Eviews only incorporates the first acquisition when you have data that consists of multiple years. If so, which acquisition is the first acquisition and why is it not possible to incorporate both acquisitions?
I hope you can help me out!
Thanks in advance!
Stefan
