EViews 7 versus EViews 5

Postby EdwinLH » Tue Jun 17, 2014 12:50 pm

Hi,
I have a problem with EViews 7 and I had no problem before with EViews 5 for exactly the same model.
I build big economic growth model and I need to calculate 300 periods to stabilize the model and to obtain a steady state before making experiments. It is usual for this kind of model.
So it is normal than the initial values are very small if we compare them to the final solution of these values because it is a growth model. The values are not significant, it is the rates of growth that are important.
With EViews 7, the solver has stalled and there is the following error message; "STARTING VALUES MAY BE TOO FAR FROM A SOLUTION IN DO A MODEL.SOLVE"

It is OK for 100 periods but the solver has stalled for more. However it was OK to find a solution with EViews 5.

Have you a solution ? Notably to decrease the sensibility of the sofware to the difference betwwen initial and final values.

I buyed EViews 7 to obtain a better sofware and EViews 5 was better for my models.

I need help.

I think the default solver method changed between versions. Change the solver method to something else (o=b or o=g or o=n), and try the reorder option too (f=f).
