bandwidth of kernel density

Postby maxchen » Wed Jul 28, 2010 7:44 am

in EViews 5, "kdensity" reports the default bandwidth (label on title)
in EViews 7, it is replaced by "distplot kernel" but no default bandwidth reported. Can I read the bandwidth in V7?

Go to the kernel graph options (double click on the existing graph if it's already created and click on the options button next to kernel density, and change the Legend labels to Detailed.

Great thanks!
hmm, by

Code: Select all

distplot kernel(leg=det)
there is not enough information in the "Obj Ref manual" P704 on option "leg=" . More detail on "users guide I" p502.

What does bandwidth really mean and why was its size a problem in this case? Can someone explain why it is a problem to have large bandwidth ...isn't all information transmitted in the air by satellite so why would it be a problem?
