problems with xopen

I apologize if this is a much-discussed issue.

I'm trying to just use xopen(type=m) and getting the error message "Matlab.Application is not registered". I have tried every variation of
the COMProgID you have listed in man pages. I'm running Matlab 7.11.0.584 (R2010b) Win 64bit. I've seen the stuff about statconnDCOM but
assume that only applies to connecting to R.

Any suggestions?

It's a problem with how Matlab itself is registered on your system. I would follow these instructions on how to register Matlab:

Thanks. Funny thing. I just tried it at work (was trying on laptop at home before) and it works fine. Thanks for your help
