Opening CSV with very long strings

Postby adrian_d » Mon May 25, 2015 8:08 am

Hi,
I would like to open in Eviews some data from CSV comma-delimeted file, but I there is problem with a column where there is too long a string. There are strings having over 800 characters, and Eviews pushes parts of this string to other variables (objects) in a workfile that are next to the alpha object with this string. I attach the example data row, and the problematic object is called querystring. If you convert text to columns in Excel, you can see everything ok, but after reading into Eviews, it messes up. I tried changing acceptable alpha truncation length in Eviews, but it doesn't help. Do you have any hints?

thanks
adrian

Unfortunately there isn't much you can do right now. We are looking into a solution.

In the next patch, EViews will use the max alpha length (set in the general options dialog) to parse column widths up to 1000 chars. The current limitation is 250 characters.

Good news, but would it be also available in Eviews 8.1 or only 9?
