Hi,
in Eviews 8.1 (and 8.0 it applied as well), there is something wrong when I copy object name, e.g. from group or equation view, and paste it in whatever textbox (show, equation, sample). The object name is copied in a kind of frame and with spaces around it, which makes it problematic and can crash e.g. functioning of programmes or even setting the workfile sample. It is not the case only on my computer, but on all computers among my colleagues, so I suppose it is a common issue and you shoud have probably already seen it, but are you working this out? I attach the example of what it looks like.

Re: Strange frame on copy-pasting object names
The first thing I would do it make sure you are up to date. Select help->eviews update to verify.
Can you post a screenshot of the source as well.
What operating system are you using?
Does it happen all the time?
Try selecting options->general options. Under environment->keyboard, select 'only on demand...' in the Smart edit box. Does this fix the problem?

Re: Strange frame on copy-pasting object names
I have Eviews up to date. Operating system is Windows 7 Professional SP1 64bit. It happens all the time - both while copying from equation view as well as from group view. Only copying from worfile view works fine. Changing the options of the keyboard does not fix it.The first thing I would do it make sure you are up to date. Select help->eviews update to verify.

I enclose screenshots at the two cases step by step, also the abstract of the workfile, but it does not depend on the workfile in fact. There are 6 files so I zipped them.

Re: Strange frame on copy-pasting object names
It will be fixed in the next patch
Re: Strange frame on copy-pasting object names
Ok thank you!It will be fixed in the next patch
Re: Strange frame on copy-pasting object names
Dear Eviews team, thank you for the new patch, you did correct the frame problem in "Show" and other text boxes, but now I can see new bugs :-( Generally there is a serious problem with equation text box: pasting whatever into this box results in pasting two times, sometimes with the frame. What is interesting, there is NO PROBLEM with the EXPANDED view of the box, only with the normal one.
I will try to list the problematic cases, but I have no idea whether it is all:
1) within equation text box, copy a name of one variable and paste in other place in this box -> double paste
2) copy a name of a series from workfile window or from external place (e.g. Windows Notepad) and paste in the equation box -> double paste
3) copy a name of a series from eviews table object or from eview quation table (stats view) or from header of a group of series and paste in the equation box -> double paste plus frame.
When copying more than one object name, then both names paste doubled, and with two frames.
And secondly - quite minor thing, but I noticed that while copy-pasting within programming window, colours of the pasted fragment vanish, and re-appear after any action in the pasted row (e.g. typing a space, or whatever). There was no such an issue before today update.
I think there is no need to make screenshots now, but if you need ones, I can make them.
thanks
adrian

Re: Strange frame on copy-pasting object names
While fixing the originally reported bug, we/I inadvertently created a new bug when pasting into property sheets. This explains why you see the bug in some dialogs but not all of them.
A new patch is being built right now and should be up shortly.
In regards to the minor thing, the originally reported bug was due to the fact that text was not being pasted in to the edit boxes. Instead RTF or html was being pasted. When pasting text, there is no concept of color whereas in RTF there is. Whenever anything is added via typing or pasting to a program window, text is always colored due to syntax highlighting. Prior to yesterday, pasting RTF meant recoloring the text to the same color so you didn't see a flash. Now that we paste text, black text is pasted in and then it is recolored.

Re: Strange frame on copy-pasting object names
idbtao,
We cannot replicate the problem using the steps listed by adrian_d on Feb 24. Can you list the steps which produce the problem?

Re: Strange frame on copy-pasting object names
As far as I can see, Eviews update from ~ three weeks ago fixed all the problems that I mentioned, so it is hopefully no longer an issue :)
