cointegration vs joint distribution

Postby Ollinsworld » Fri Feb 20, 2015 11:42 pm

Hello there,
I'm working on decoupling economic growth from energy. The challenge I'm having is: what implications do joint distribution and dependence of energy and economic growth have on cointegration? In other words, if the two variables are jointly distributed and dependent, are they also necessarily cointegrated?
Thanks.
