Static data from Datastream

Is there a way to retrieve static data from Datastream either with copy, fetch or similar?

What type of static data do you wish to request? Can you give an example?

basically any data identified with static datatype, for instance the settlement date of an interest rate futures contract. Ticker: "ABB0618", settlement date identifier: "STDT".

It is currently not supported. We are looking into adding the feature however. If the feature were to be added, how would you like the data appear in an EViews workfile (as a scalar, matrix, series, vector, alpha string, etc)? I cannot promise it will behave as you would like, but your input will be taken into consideration.

Since the static data types normally contain either dates, scalars or strings it would probably be best if the function call returned a string.
In case several static identifier codes are allowed in one function call an svector would probably be preferred, in my view.

Another addition that also could be very helpful would be the ability to retrieve constituent lists directly from Datastream with the fetch command, for instance for the S&P500 index DS ticker: LS&PCOMP. Preferred output in this case would also be a svector.
