I've written my own addin and installer for EViews 8 which works fine.
I notice however there is an option to enable automatic updates, with an option to specify a URL for an XML file. However, ideally, I'd like the addin to be updated from a directory on our network, rather than web host it. I've tried simply to put the network directory path in under the url="" option, but that doesn't seem to work.
Is this even possible, or is it something that might be enabled with a future EViews Update?

Re: Addin Update
If you have the XML file on your network, is should work just fine. There is no requirement to host the XML on a website.

Re: Addin Update
Thanks for the reply. Presumably I have made some other kind of error, although I'm not sure where. The message I get is:If you have the XML file on your network, is should work just fine. There is no requirement to host the XML on a website.
[Addin_Name]: Could not retrieve update list due to error [Unknown connection error.]
Could it be access restrictions / admin rights on my companies network? Or does it make a difference whether I reference the path starting with a mapped network drive letter (e.g. G:\ in my case) or the server name preceded by \\ ?
I suspect this is too vague to pin down, although any suggestions would be helpful as I'm struggling to find an obvious errors in my code.
