Line graph, different legends

Postby uwhusky » Mon May 06, 2013 10:58 pm

How do I create a line graph which is marked by three different legends (solid, dotted and long dotted lines) according to the specific periods I define? Specifically, I would like to show three different regimes of periods on the UK real exchange rate, see the attachment. Three regimes are defined by two periods when exchange rates are below -.3 (regime 1), above -0.3 (regime 2) and the periods after 1992Q3 (regime 3). How do I create the same graph that is ploted in Excel? Thanks.

You'd have to create three different series, with each series only containing values for certain periods. Then chart them together.

Thanks. I tried to create three different series, and plot them togather in a line graph, but it turns out to be some discountious lines (see the attached workfile). How can I join these lines into a continuous line without jump points as I created in Excel?

You'd have to fill in those values in the series too. Tricky.
