Fitted trend function?

It would be great if there was a fitted-trend function whereby one could write

smpl @all graph mygraph.line myseries @fittedtrend(myseries,"1990 2010",linear) show mygraph

and make EViews show a graph of myseries and its linear trend, fitted to the sample argument ("1990 2010") and extrapolated to the page sample. Or is there already someway of achieving this (preferably without creating a separate trend series)?
