Eviews 7.1 build Nov 3 2010
workfile available as http://econ413.wustl.edu/stepproblem.wf1
STEPWISE Forward selection
default pvalue forwards and backwards = 0.5
saved as eq01
changed pvalues to 0.9 clicked ok on options
saved as eq02
changed pvalues to 0.5 clicked ok on options
saved as eq03 BUT opening eq03 shows the identical results as eq02 but the header says 0.5
Error appears to be changing pvalues downward requires clicking OK and then re-estimating.
Not a big deal, but certainly disconcerting!

I just updated my Eviews to 7.2 build Oct 14 2011 with the same behavior

Re: stepwise
I'm not sure I follow your steps exactly. How did you "save" it as another equation?
Re: stepwise
From eq01 (created by Quick Estimate equation), I Object Copy Name eq02. I changed the pvalues to .9 . Click OK.
Object Copy Object, name eq03. Changed pvalue to .5 and clicked OK.
How I saved the equations has NOTHING to do with the problem!
Change the pvalues on eq01 to .9 and then back again to .5 . When you go back to .5 and click OK, the display is unchanged except the top reports = .5

Re: stepwise
Following those steps, I was able replicate the bug. I've got a fix which will go into the next patch.
