Estimate of a function, i.e: ln Y = f(x, y, z)

Postby Eirikeb » Mon Feb 07, 2011 9:01 am

Hello!
I am an exchange student in a country, where I don´t speak the language, and on top of that, they are using eViews 6 instead of Stata that we use at my home university.

Anyways, I have a question that asks me to estimate:
ln (Y) = f(x, y, z)
How do I this?
I guess that LS Y C X Y Z is not correct?
And last, the data is allready in log-lin form, so I dont have to transfrom the data (I think...)'

Greetings from a man last in translation!

I presume you know the form of f?

Wow, thanks for the quick reply.

As far as I can see the question is:
Get [dataset], and use it to solve the following item:
Estimate the following equation for "fixed" :
ln(Y)=f(a,b,c,d,e,f,g,h)

Thats all : (

You're stuck (in any software) without knowing what f is.
