Graphing Inconsistent Series

Postby marcounam » Tue Jan 11, 2011 11:02 am

Hello:
I have the following question: I have 4 series: one is a daily series starting from 1999 and ending in 2009, the others are quarterly series starting from 1999 to 2009. I would like to graph all 4 series in the same figure. how can i do this? One solution is to creat a group with all 4 series but i cant seem to get it because of the different frequencies. Could someone tell me how to do this?

Thank you so much in advance.

Copy all the series into one workfile page, but make sure you copy them as links, rather than as values. (to do this copy, then select paste special rather than paste). Once they're all in the same page, open as a group and graph.

So for example what i should do is :

Copy the daily series, select paste as new workfile. Then for the rest of the series(quarterly ones) : Copy each series, select special paste, once i have selected special paste i get two options : as text or as excel binary format which. which one do i choose? Could show me step by step how to do this?
Im sorry, i have just installed eviews so im still trying to learn how to use it.

Thank you so much for your time

Are you copying from an EViews workfile open in the same instance of EViews?

The four series i have are each in an excel worksheet. So what i would like to do is have a graph of all 4 series, problem is that i have different frequencies. i would like mantain the frequency of all series to have a more consistent graph.

Thanks so much

You need to get them into an EViews workfile. Put the daily series into one page, and the quarterly series into another page. Once they're in the same workfile, you can copy from the quarterly page to the daily page. See pics below.

Ok i have got the 4 series in the same page. I cant do the open as a group step becasue the 4 series are odered cronologically(in your example between x and y there is series called date). So what i did is i clicked show and typed the four series i wanted, i got a group containing the four series and then i went to graph and clecked on ok. the graph i got for size looks ok but all the other graphs were flat lines. i dont know why. any suggestions?
thank you!
