year over year percent change with weekly data

Postby ekhutch » Fri Jan 07, 2011 11:13 pm

hello,

I have three years of weekly data for several different market segments and would like to find the year over year percent change for each week. Is there anyway you can do this on EViews? I tried using the @pcy(x) command but it said that "regular monthly, quarterly, or annual data" was required.

Any suggestions?

The problem with this is how you define a year on year change with weekly data.

Weeks start and end at different points each year. There aren't exactly 52 weeks in a year. If you can come up with a definition of how you want to calculate the year lag for weekly data, we can probably tell you how to do it in EViews.
