Exporting results to LaTeX

Postby bakul » Thu Dec 09, 2010 2:59 pm

Hello everyone

I'm kindly requesting the feature to export regression and other tabular results to LaTeX. At the moment I'm having to take screen caps > edit the image > then put them on my .TeX files. I tried using the verbatim environment [- that's what I use for Stata outputs]. But in Eviews they don't look good - possibly because EV7 outputs the results in it's own format, which verbatim can't/not supposed to handle.

Alternatively, I could also copy and paste to MSWord > PDF > Export, but it won't be that good as I need to put them under different headings (in Appendix and other places). I'm also trying to avoid MS Word altogether.

I'd be grateful if you have a better temporary solution.

Regards

You could print the EViews tables to txt files. Most LaTeX editors will handle plain text files ok.

Other than that, yes, better LaTex integration would be nice.

Thanks for your response, Gareth! The temporary solution worked flawlessly. :)

As for LaTeX ideas, can I also ask you to consider the commands for Stata - LaTeX mentioned here [under 'Stata modules']. I'd really appreciate if EV team can include as many of them as possible in the upcoming patch, if possible. Rest assured, this will make it a very popular tool in our economics dept.

Hello Gareth

Can you please tell us if there is any possibility of imporitng to LaTeX facility will be available in the next 2-3 weeks. I'm aksing because then I don't have to do things manually. As you probably guessed importing and pasting the full regression output in the middle of an article is not very useful to the reader.

Built in features will have to wait until EViews 8, which will be a while yet.

In the mean time we have knocked up a simple Add-in that will convert a frozen table into a latex file:

Hi Gareth

I tried. It works. I was wondering if it is possible to fine tune the add-ins by making the font size smaller. That way I can attach the output in Portrait format. Now it has to be in landscape - otherwise, it goes off the page.

I'm sure there is a LaTeX command you can add to make fonts smaller.

Has it now been updated/integrated into EViews 8?

Hi Gareth ! Is it working now on EViews 9 ? If yes, can you give the corresponding code ?

Thank you !
