unbalanced panel data convert to pool object

Postby Dine » Fri Nov 26, 2010 8:13 am

Hi,

I have unbalanced panel data. I created already a workfile by using the "Foreign Data as Workfile" option. Eviews recognized the data as Dated Panel. So far so good. But when I try to create a pool object I have some problems ...

I entered the cross section identifiers in the Pool window:
Bild1.jpg
Pool
Bild1.jpg (24.22 KiB) Viewed 3662 times
then I changed the view in "Spreadsheet" and entered the "wc01551? wc01751?" in the Series List window. You can see the result in the following image:

Series List and result

What do I wrong?

The workfile I'm using can be found at:
unbalanced panel.wf1
workfile
(29.32 KiB) Downloaded 333 times
Thanks a lot in advance for your help.

You appear to be trying to make a pool object inside the panel workfile. This is almost certainly not what you want to do (although in rare circumstances it may be).

Can you explain why you want a pool object?

I try to explain what I want to estimate. The workfile what I uploaded was only a sample. My database consists of over 2000 firms and each firm is attributable to 1 of 19 sectors. The sectors are my groups. I want to estimate the dependent variable wcp with the independent variables wc05476 and wc05201. I also want to compare differences between sectors and differences between years. And I want to check if wc05201 follows an antoregressive first order autoregressive prozesse.

Thanks for helping me.
