Panel Data Boundaries

Postby sh34 » Mon Oct 25, 2010 11:18 pm

Hello, I'm using Eviews 5 and have a couple questions about panel data manipulation.
Apologies in advance if Im a bit slow, Im learning Eviews the best that I can.

I have a database [Attached as xls] with the following headers:
  • ID
  • Order
  • Budget
  • Pr(x)
  • Temp
  • Decision
Each ID# is a participant who goes through 120 turns and at each turn their budget and decision are recorded along with the given probability and temperature.

How do I know that Eviews 5 recognizes this is stacked cross-section data, such that the lagged variable for the first observation for ID#2 is not the last observation for ID#1?

For example, if I were to write the code "probit decision c decision(-1)" will Eviews recognize there is no lagged variable for the first observation?

Thanks,
Ryan

Once you've got your file inside EViews, structure it as an undated panel. Click on Proc->Structure/Resize current page, then select Undated Panel, then enter the name of the two id series in the box (at a guess ID and ORDER).
