Dark theme for eye comfort

Postby Fifis » Tue Feb 15, 2022 4:24 am

I am trying to find the feature to change the syntax highlighting colours. The only thing that seems to be currently implemented is General options --- Programs --- General --- Use syntax colouring (on or off). Also, the Environment --- Appearance seems to offer window colour only.

Is it possible to configure the colours of the editor? Every other popular editor (Stata code editor, RStudio, VS Code, Notepad++, Atom, Sublime etc.) is offering such functionality to reduce eye strain, lower the amount of light shining into the users' eyes, and---as an added bonus---to recognise patterns (key words, functions, strings, comments etc.). It seems to have become the standard choice in both desktop and mobile applications. It would be an immense usability improvement if the user could at least select something like 'Light / Dark' theme since it makes work in the evening and low-light conditions more comfortable (fewer blue light as a component of the white background).

Maybe it is already possible to type some lines in an INI file to set the colour values? Maybe support it was implemented a long time ago and I am struggling to find this configuration option...

Yours sincerely,
Andreï V. Kostyrka.

Unfortunately the colors are fixed. We will however look into implementing a custom setting.
